CITIES & REGIONAL

ISKANDAR MALAYSIA COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

The CDPii 2014-2025 has been acknowledged by YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia and YAB Dato’ Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, Menteri Besar of Johor in year 2014.

A review on the performance of Iskandar Malaysia was carried out in year 2011 after Iskandar Malaysia achieved an encouraging growth since year 2006. With this review, Comprehensive Development Plan ii 2014-2025 (CDPii 2014-2025) has replaced the existing document, Comprehensive Development Plan 2006-2025. The CDPii 2014-2025 has been formulated to provide an implementation framework and guidance as Iskandar Malaysia progresses into the next phase of its development pathway.

The CDPii 2014-2025 is in accordance with the principle of holistic ecosystem known as the Circle of Sustainability that provides equal attention in economic, social and environmental development in Iskandar Malaysia. This circle is in line with the vision of Iskandar Malaysia and drive towards a sustaining and resilient region. A vision towards becoming a Strong and Sustainable Metropolis of International Standing, as envisaged in the CDP 2006-2025, will be upheld in CDPii 2014-2025.

The vision is reinforced by strategic thrusts formulated to focus on wealth generation, wealth sharing as well as resources optimisation and low carbon. CDPii 2014-2025 also introduces two new elements in the form of Big Moves and the Spatial Management Plan. The Big Moves are transformational programmes set to accelerate and create a paradigm shift in the economic, social and environmental aspects as well as regulatory and spatial management. The Spatial Management Plan is to ensure the growth of regional economy, social transformation and environment in a sustainable manner.
